Medical Writer

closerlook's Medical Writer conducts medical research and creates medical content for marketing pieces that closerlook develops for our clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Digital marketing pieces to which the Medical Writer contributes include interactive eLearning programs and websites for healthcare-professional audiences.

At closerlook, a Medical Writer must be a smart marketer who can help the project team to meet the client's communication objectives and address the needs and preferences of the audience. From time to time, the Medical Writer also writes non-medical marketing copy for pieces that drive audience members to clinical content.

The Medical Writer is a guardian of best practices for medical writing and for marketing in general, and works collaboratively to ensure that writing, design and technology achieve the client’s business objectives.

Duties

  • Collaborates productively with designers, writers, strategic planners and other members of the project team.
  • Communicates actively with the project team to keep deliverables on track and on schedule.
  • Researches disease states and pharmaceutical products, and helps the broader team to understand the clinical landscape.
  • Is the guardian of medical content and the recorder of all copy changes throughout the creative and regulatory-review processes.
  • Supports new business pursuits by researching new disease states, contributing to presentations, writing and reviewing presentation decks, etc.
  • Understands, follows and helps project teams to follow the closerlook creative process.
  • Occasionally participates in client meetings and presentations.
  • Can execute strong marketing writing that aligns with the strategic inputs that he or she has been given.
  • Contributes to continued establishment, enforcement and evolution of Medical Writing best practices at closerlook.

Requirements

  • Has at least five years experience as a Medical Writer
  • Is a graduate of a college or university with a degree in a scientific field.
  • Provides samples of medical writing as well as non-medical writing
  • Demonstrated experience in creating excellent healthcare-professional marketing pieces (especially digital pieces) for the pharmaceutical industry is a plus
  • Pays careful attention to medical and marketing details.
  • Has demonstrable mastery of English-language style and mechanics, as well as AMA style.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and solve problems and eliminate obstacles to successful completion of projects.
