I recently came across Tricot Machine’s self-titled debut album,
and its moody, piano-driven folk-pop immediately became my soundtrack for the messy winter we’re entrenched in. Fittingly, their video for “Les peaux de lievres” is a big sweater—made up entirely of hundreds of individual, intarsia-knitted panels, animated into scenes of the Montreal-based duo engaged in various snowy-weather activities. Unfortunately, I don’t understand French, so I just have to pretend the lyrics are winter-related, too.

I don’t speak French either, but apparently a tricot machine is used for a certain style of knitting, which makes sense.
The video reminds me of that White Stripes one with the legos, only this one seems even more time-consuming, if only because it would be harder to fake digitally.
