Being the gadget freak that I am, I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that this one slipped under my radar. Asus has released a very affordable, very compact laptop called the Eee PC. Not a very good name, but a very intriguing product.
The nearly palm-sized, 2 pound PC comes loaded with Linux, a 7” Wide LCD, 512mb of memory and a 4gb solid state disk drive. Don’t let the Linux thing scare you. This beauty is capable of running windows and has even been spotted running OS X. Minus the somewhat tiny display, the Eee PC looks like a winner. If you do a lot of your work online, it’s a no brainer, but if you are looking for a machine to play Call of Duty 4 on, you will want to look elsewhere.
So if you are looking for a high-tech gift for the gadget-head in your life, you can pick up the Eee PC here for just $349.
