Like fellow blogger Becky Nasadowski, I made the trip over to Pulaski Fieldhouse for the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale. Having attended last year’s Holiday Fair, my expectations were high, but the Renegade folks—and their vendors—did not disappoint. Highlights included new apparel from friends of closerlook Good Night TV and Little Uni.
Jay Ryan, the Godfather of Chicago rock screenprinters and a favorite artist of mine, was on hand with some of his work, as was Dan MacAdam from Crosshair Chicago.
I also came across very fine work from some outfits new to me. Spike Press had some great posters promoting one of 2007’s most celebrated indie bands, The National. Yee-Haw Industries made the trip up from Tennessee and brought their high-quality letterpress work with them.
Finally, a shout-out to the DJs from 88.7 FM WLUW who were responsible for the soundtrack to our browsing. In my first fifteen minutes in the Fieldhouse, I heard Blur’s “Ambulance” and the Magnetic Fields’ “I’m Sorry I Love You.” Well done, college kids. Well done.
