Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has released Alone, an album of demos recorded over the past decade or so. In the introduction to Pitchfork’s e-mail interview with Cuomo, Jason Crock writes that Alone includes everything from quiet “bedroom tracks” to an Ice Cube cover. The album seems to be worth at least a listen, and the interview is one of the more mature I’ve seen from Cuomo, especially considering the review that Pitchfork gave Weezer’s last studio album.
On a local note, Cuomo cites Work + Play favorite Sound Opinions as a source of new music for him: “I’m probably less often baffled by DeRogatis’ picks than Kot’s,” Cuomo wrote to Pitchfork, “but I love them both. I always get something out of listening to them, whether it’s a new favorite song or a broader perspective on what’s going on in the music world.”
