But you’re just going to miss seeing the really good stuff.
Chances are, you know the ultimate sports fan—a person who watches and follows every type of sport imaginable. Even curling. He or she also has a fantasy team for each sport. Even golf. I know this person…I actually live with this person.
If you’re like me, you’re used to being surrounded by the ultimate sports fan’s fantasy league conversations and left unable to contribute. If you, too, are the non-sports type, help has arrived.
Introducing reality TV fantasy leagues—another distraction, courtesy of the World Wide Web.
Here’s how it works: You choose your favorite reality show from the likes of Project Runway, So You Think You Can Dance, The Hills, Big Brother or The Mole. I only follow Project Runway, so it was a no-brainer. You choose three of the show’s participants for your “team.” The points escalate along with the drama. With the Project Runway game, for example, your “team” of designers can earn you:
• 6 points for winning a challenge
• 4 points for verbally fighting with another designer
• 3 points for crying
• 2 points for Tim Gunn telling him or her to “Make it work”
• -6 points for getting eliminated
Watch the show each Wednesday and take stock of how your team performs. On Thursday mornings, it’s time to check the website to see your points and start talking smack.
Reality TV fantasy leagues might sound ridiculous to the sports fanatic, but joining a league can help you throw out impressive conversation starters, such as “My fantasy team got ten points yesterday.” Or even “Holla at your boy.”
