But you’re just going to miss seeing the really good stuff.
Illustrator and designer Casey Burns gave Flatstock 14 and Pitchfork Festival attendees a meta-experience by displaying a poster that promoted the show Sonic Youth played just yards away on the Festival’s first night. Find the poster in the center column here.
For posters promoting your favorite indie artists playing your favorite Chicago venues, judgeworks is the place to go. The poster promoting a Midlake show at Schubas is one of my favorites. On the Process page of judgeworks.com, the man behind judgeworks puts words and pictures to the scratchboarding and silkscreening he performs to produce his artwork.
And speaking of process, check out this short video created by our old pals at Coudal Partners. It’s a delicious visual overview of the silkscreening process used by Jay Ryan and Mat Daly of The Bird Machine, set to a song performed by Jay’s band Dianogah.
