  1. iPhone 3G: Worth the hype?

    July 25, 2008

I’ve always been the girl that’s one step behind technology. In fact, my friends have oh-so-affectionately dubbed my cell phone “Zack Morris” (read: very large and clunky). So, it must of come as quite a surprise when I announced that I was getting the latest and greatest new gadget—iPhone 3G.

Is it really worth a four-hour wait at the Apple store? Probably not. But it is a super cool little gadget, and needless to say, a vast improvement over my last phone. The network is as fast as they claim, if not faster. And, oh the applications! Whatever you’re into, there’s an app for it. So far, I have downloaded the Facebook and Pandora apps and love the usability of each. Though I can’t compare my iPhone to the past version, I have to admit—I’m sort of in love. The biggest downside I have experienced thus far is AT&T plan options that accompany iPhone. They’ve jacked up each plan by $10, making for a phone that’s more costly than its predecessor. And text messages don’t come cheap. It’s $15 a month for 1500 text messages or $20 for unlimited. The only other option is 200 text messages for $5 a month. Why the large gap? People will clearly go over with the 200 option, but people like me will never use 1500. Lame.

Should you join the iPhone army? In my opinion, yes. That is if you can find one. If you can wait a week, I recommend ordering yours at AT&T so you can laugh at the people standing in line at the Apple Store.

Absolutely! I love my iPhone and couldn’t live without it. Basically you’re buying a mini computer to keep in your purse-awesomeness.

I’m a iPhone 1.0 user (still trying to get ahold of a 3g) and I say YES! Go get an iPhone! People are quick to point out its quirks and flaws, but an iPhone with flaws is better than any other phone on the market. Can anybody else figure out the interfaces on those Blackberrys and Sidekicks?!
