It's a world first!

We’ve had a couple of other closerlook bloggers write up some map-themed posts (Holly G. and Michael T.) so I thought one more couldn’t hurt. Especially if it’s as groundbreaking as
Transit Maps of the World: The World’s First Collection of Every Urban Train Map on Earth. The author, Mark Ovenden, has compiled subway maps from all over the world, including historical context on urban transportation.

While I have yet to see it in person, it is certainly on my wish list. One of the things I’m most excited to see is the actual layout of all the pages. Creating a book entirely made up of maps? You’ve got a lot of fuel to do some crazy stuff… check out a very mapped spread from the table of contents below:
