The game of checkers will no longer be the same. Every time I sit down for a rousing game of checkers, I will tremble with fear that some kid with a supercomputer might stroll my way.

My hypothetical adversary will sit across from me with a dull blue glow of an LCD giving the precise coordinates for the next move. After it runs through roughly 500 billion billion moves (5 × 10^20) all hope will be lost.

And I will lose.
