It’s Pop It’s Art is a collaboration between Airside and EMI Music Publishing UK that takes lyrics from popular music and creates screenprint posters, canvas prints, t-shirts, mugs and badge sets. Pretty cool idea. If you are so inclined, you can buy the posters at the Airside Shop.
It’s an interesting to experience these lyrics without the music in visual form. After reviewing all the prints on IPIA, I’m finding I like John Lennon’s “Imagine” a lot more than I did. Unfortunately my affinity for Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?” has waned a little bit.
As luck would have it, a good friend of mine asked me to help him put song lyrics on a canvas for his girlfriend the only hours after I came across this. Bob Dylan’s “Just Like a Woman” isn’t available on IPIA yet, so I guess I’ll have to do the work myself.
