If you don’t have the Flash player installed, you can still see most things on the site.
But you’re just going to miss seeing the really good stuff.
Well, here’s some reading made for busy schedules and short attention spans. One Sentence is a blog that describes itself as an “experiment in brevity.” Readers generate content by submitting true stories, told in one sentence—that’s it.
Some miss the mark—airing blatant confessions or cheesy one-liners. Some cheat by using impossibly long, grammatically unsound run-on sentences. When done well, however, the results are compelling. Stripped of details and explanations, they’re often beautiful, hilarious, or mystifying in their starkness. Like this one: “It cost me $17,000 to prove to my son that steel wool is flammable.”
The site also includes links to other “exercises in conciseness,” such as Reviews in Haiku, among others. It’s updated frequently, so it’s a nice addition to my daily dose of verbage, alongside my word of the day.
