But you’re just going to miss seeing the really good stuff.
At lunch on Friday, a few of us, including fellow Work + Play blogger Jeff Cenna, started talking about our favorite films in our favorite genre, the rock documentary. If you, too, enjoy the rockumentary, you’ll want to throw any of the following that you have not seen into your Netflix queue:
End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones – directed by Jim Fields and Michael Gramaglia.
The Clash: Westway to the World – directed by Don Letts
Live Forever – a look at the Britpop phenomenon, directed by John Dower
DiG! – a documentary about the rise and fall of both the Brian Jonestown Massacre and Dandy Warhols, directed by Ondi Timoner
I Am Trying to Break Your Heart – a documentary about Wilco during and after the recording of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Directed by Sam Jones.
Gimme Shelter: The Rolling Stones – directed by Albert and David Maysles
Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii (original cut) – directed by Adrian Maben
The Last Waltz – The Band in the hands of Martin Scorcese, a seminal blending of the concert film and the rockumentary.
Spinal Tap – We say it counts. Directed by Rob Reiner
