In February, RedEye humor columnist Mark Bazer launched The Interview Show, a live, first-Friday event during which Chicago figures in the arts sit down with Bazer for interviews done in the desk-and-couch style of late-night talk shows. Lineups for The Interview Show have been eclectic thus far. This Friday’s guests include stand-up comedian Jena Friedman, filmmaker Steve Delahoyde, who shot and edited The Interview Show’s Larry Sanders-style intro, crime novelist Marcus Sakey and hip-hop artist Rhymefest. A comedian, a DIY filmmaker, a crime writer and a Kanye West protege—Bazer will need interviewing skills of Liptonian proportion to successfully navigate the evening. If he does, this Friday’s show will be a fantastic display of the depth and breadth of Chicago’s popular-arts scene, of which Bazer is becoming a kind of curator.
